1 in 500 Americans dies from COVID-19

After 19 months of the pandemic, more than 664,000 Americans have died from COVID-19. About 179 million of the 331 million Americans, or about 54% of the population, are fully vaccinated. Falling vaccination rates and the impact of a dangerous new virus variant have caused the number of infections and deaths in the US to increase sharply again. Last month alone, the average number of infections per day increased by 30% and the number of deaths nearly tripled.

The COVID-19 epidemic is spreading strongly among young people and mostly among unvaccinated people. Many hospitals in the US have become overwhelmed due to a lack of medical staff and beds as the number of hospitalizations spikes.

President Biden recently said that he had run out of patience and introduced a policy of forcing people to vaccinate. Accordingly, Mr. Biden introduced additional measures to increase vaccinations, protect the economy, keep schools safe, and improve care for COVID-19 patients.

US President Joe Biden has just met with representatives of US business leaders to discuss the task of vaccinating. Mr. Biden has ordered all US businesses with 100 or more workers to be fully vaccinated if they do not want to be tested weekly. The plan would affect two-thirds of the US workforce.
