Electric scooter explodes while charging – Video: @LondonFire/Twitter
London Fire Brigade, England, shared on Twitter an image captured by a family security camera of the electric motorcycle fire.
The video shows the electric scooter being set up in the kitchen, using the socket there to charge the battery, and then exploding. The fire quickly spread throughout the room. The fire brigade told Sky News the fire had heated up to 1,000 degrees Celsius and spread toxic smoke.
They also said no one was seriously injured, but the owner was hospitalized for eight hours after breathing in smoke from the fire. That person was shocked and said, “I thought I had to meet death.”
This is a shared rental and the kitchen is a shared area for tenants. The other occupants of the house were not around when the fire started. But they will have to find a new home.
They also say that these types of incidents are becoming more common, when the battery starts to “heat” (a phenomenon where the battery goes into an uncontrollable state, self-heating and creating a chain reaction), a fire occurs. like an explosion and can block the exits.
The fire department shared the video to warn people to charge their electric vehicles more carefully. They recommend that vehicles not be parked in locations that could block exits and that smoke alarms be installed in the loading position.
