Florida Governor DeSantis has announced that he is running for the White House in 2024 as a Republican nominee, becoming an opponent of Trump.
“We need courage to lead and strength to win. I’m Ron DeSantis and I’m running for president to make America great again,” Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, 44, said on May 24. Mr. DeSantis had previously submitted his candidacy to the United States Federal Election Commission.
In a conversation the same day with American billionaire Elon Musk on Twitter Spaces, Twitter’s live audio feature, DeSantis said that America is going in the wrong direction and that’s what everyone can feel.
The conversation between the Florida governor and Elon Musk had some technical issues, which Twitter explained was due to heavy traffic when there were nearly 400,000 people participating at the same time.

The Florida governor is considered a rising star of the Republican Party and is former US President Donald Trump’s most formidable opponent. One of DeSantis’ perks is his youth, as he was in his early 40s.
Governor DeSantis once said there are three people to look forward to right now, including himself, President Joe Biden and former President Trump, but said the former US president has no chance of being elected.
The Florida governor’s decision to run for office will make the Republican primary race more intense. In addition to former President Trump and Governor DeSantis, the party has other high-profile candidates, including former US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley, 51, and former Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson, 72. US President Mike Pence also formed an action group to support his candidacy.
