The Executive Board of Vietnam Mathematical Association for the period 2023-2028 has just been officially launched with 19 members. Professor Dr. Vu Hoang Linh – Rector of the University of Natural Sciences (Hanoi National University) – was elected as the President of the association.

Mr. Vu Hoang is an alumnus of the Mathematics major of Linh Hanoi University (now High School for the Gift of Natural Sciences). He enrolled at the university and worked as a PhD student in Hungary.

He obtained his doctorate in applied mathematics (computing mathematics) in 1998 under the guidance of Professor Katalin Balla at the University of Budapest.

He was recognized as Associate Professor by the State Council of Professors in 2007.

In the period from 2009 to 2011, Mr. Vu Hoang Linh worked as a research fellow at the Technical University of Berlin (Germany) under the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation’s Program for Experienced Researchers. He also received a Doctorate of Science (Habilitation) from the Technical University of Berlin in 2014.

From November 2008 to May 2014, Mr. Vu Hoang Linh held the position of head of the Department of Mathematics – Mechanical – Informatics, University of Natural Sciences (Vietnam National University, Hanoi). After this he became the Vice Principal, then became the School Principal.

Since August 2018, Professor Dr. Vu Hoang Linh has been the Vice President and General Secretary of the Vietnam Mathematical Association.

The Vietnam Mathematical Association currently has over 1,300 members.

The Vietnam Mathematical Association is a socio-professional organization of people engaged in the research, teaching, application and dissemination of mathematics. The association was founded in 1966 with the first president being Professor Le Van Thiem, former Vice President of Hanoi University.

After nearly 60 years of operation, the Vietnam Mathematical Association has made many contributions to mathematics research and teaching, connecting Vietnamese mathematics with world mathematics.

The Vietnam Mathematical Association currently has over 1,300 members, mainly from 30 universities, academies and research institutes. More than 70% of its members have doctoral degrees. Which includes about 80 professors and 350 associate professors.

One of the outstanding achievements of the Vietnam Mathematical Association is the significant increase in the number of young mathematicians receiving graduate and post-doctoral scholarships abroad. Many mathematicians returned from abroad to complement the domestic mathematics research and teaching team.
