The Vietnam Mathematical Association is a socio-professional organization of people engaged in the research, teaching, application and dissemination of mathematics. The association was founded in 1966 with the first president being Professor Le Van Thiem, former Vice President of Hanoi University.
After nearly 60 years of operation, the Vietnam Mathematical Association has made many contributions to mathematics research and teaching, connecting Vietnamese mathematics with world mathematics.
The Vietnam Mathematical Association currently has over 1,300 members, mainly from 30 universities, academies and research institutes. More than 70% of its members have doctoral degrees. Which includes about 80 professors and 350 associate professors.
One of the outstanding achievements of the Vietnam Mathematical Association is the significant increase in the number of young mathematicians receiving graduate and post-doctoral scholarships abroad. Many mathematicians returned from abroad to complement the domestic mathematics research and teaching team.
