The Mitsubishi Xforce, the commercial version of the XFC concept, made its global debut at the 2023 GIIAS exhibition in Indonesia.
After presenting the car at the exhibition, in a separate press conference, the leader of the Japanese car company shared more market information about the Xforce, especially related to Vietnam.
Mitsubishi Xforce will add an advanced safety package in Vietnam
As per Mitsubishi’s plan, the Xforce will launch in the Vietnamese market in early 2024. Vietnam is identified as one of the key markets that the company is looking to tap with the Xforce model.
Assessing that Vietnamese customers have a special interest in the brand, Mitsubishi chose Vietnam for the global launch of the XFC concept model – a preview of the Xforce.
However, the global launch event of the Xforce was held in Indonesia as that is where the car is manufactured. Vietnam will be the first country to start selling this car after Indonesia.
The importance of the Vietnamese market for the Mitsubishi Xforce model is also reflected in the Japanese automaker’s plans to equip it with a more advanced safety package for domestic customers.
This means that, contrary to old complaints from Vietnamese customers about car equipment compared to other countries, the Xforce will have more advanced equipment than the version launched in Indonesia.
This safety package may include features such as automatic emergency brake assist, blind spot warning, adaptive automatic throttle or smart headlights…

What are the opportunities for Mitsubishi Xforce in Vietnam market?
Not only that, Mitsubishi also expects Xforce sales in Vietnam to reach the same level as the Xpander.
In Vietnam, the Mitsubishi Xpander is the brand’s best-selling model. Summarizing sales in the first 6 months of 2023, Xpander continues to lead with 7,982 vehicles, ie an average monthly sales of over 1,330 vehicles.
In 2022, the Xpander has an impressive sales volume of 21,983 vehicles, an average of over 1,800 vehicles/month.
If Xforce sales turn out as expected, Mitsubishi’s B-Class SUV/crossover model could usurp the segment from the Toyota Corolla Cross.
Average monthly sales of the Toyota Corolla Cross in the first 6 months of 2023 reach over 1,000 vehicles.
In 2022, average sales for this model are around 1,800 vehicles/month, roughly the figure for the Xpander.
Apart from the Corolla Cross, the Xforce also competes with the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Honda HR-V, Mazda CX-30, Mazda CX-3 or the Peugeot 2008.
Notably, the Creta was the second best-selling model after the Corolla Cross in the first half of 2023, with an average of around 740 vehicles sold per month. Sales of the rest of the models were very low.
car model |
Average sales in the first half of 2023 |
---|---|
mitsubishi expander | 1,330 vehicles |
Toyota Corolla Cross | 1,057 vehicles |
Hyundai Creta | 740 cars |
Kia Seltos | 551 vehicle |
Honda HR-V | 264 vehicles |
The B-class SUV/crossover is the segment of high-rise cars that is getting the most attention in Vietnam in the first half of this year, which is reflected in the highest sales.
Hence, there will be many opportunities for the Mitsubishi Xforce when it arrives in Vietnam, with a distinctive design that is bold in the future, and equipped with the most advanced features in the segment.
The dealer’s tentative selling price for the XForce is about 700 million VND, which is in line with the general level of rival models. Car prices in Indonesia range from 382.5 million rupiah, equivalent to 600 million VND, to 419.1 million rupees, equivalent to 655 million VND.
