The reason Sarafasa/Pure has a bad ending is because the above price is actually a very small fraction of the underlying value of the items on this boat. The new owner spent millions of dollars to buy the superyacht including the interior, but sold it for only a few hundred thousand dollars – Photo: Superyacht Times

The boat was originally owned by Prince Fahd bin Sultan Al Saud of Saudi Arabia. The Sarafsa is 82 meters long, to be seized in 2022 as the owner could not repay loans and interest of up to USD 78 million – Photo: Mail Online

Then, this superyacht was bought by billionaire Olivier Leclerc, son of Decathlon Retail Group founder Michel Leclerc, for about $65 million last month. Soon after, the yacht was renamed from Sarafsa to Pure, then Genoa, Italy, to undergo a refurbishment at a cost of US$50 million – Photo: Luxury Launch

According to Boat International, the new owner needed a complete overhaul of the interior and exterior, even more luxurious than before, to bring the boat back to its heyday. One of the changes made was lengthening the boat by 7 metres. Marks of the former owner have been removed. This is a normal process. But what surprises people is how Olivier Leclerc manages to sell these items – Photo: Boat International

Everything from grand mahogany grand pianos to silver spice jars are being auctioned for from 50 euros to 11,500 euros. According to experts, the cost of these items is many times more than this. The furniture is estimated to be worth at least a few million USD, possibly more – Photo: LuxuryLaunch

However, in the end, the total sales price was only 330,000 USD. You can see how big a deal this is. So quickly, one buyer snapped up all 525 items in one go – Photo: luxurylaunch

No one could understand why the ship’s furniture was sold so quickly at such a cheap price. Considering the world of the upper class, it would not be an exaggeration to compare it with “selling junk”. This scenario usually only occurs when the owner is in urgent need of money or the item has a very poor history for sale. In the case of the Sarafsa/Pure in particular, it’s even more difficult to fathom, as the interior is the yacht’s most unique feature, and contributes a large portion of the $65 million figure. Therefore, it can be said that the billionaire spent 65 million dollars just to buy “External Code” – Photo: Superyacht Times

The original interior of Sarafasa/Pure was custom-built by the prince based on the culture, architectural style and color of northern Italy. Therefore, the royal red and yellow colors are featured throughout, evoking the luxury and “smell of money” of the superyacht – Photo: Luxury Launch

Items to be auctioned included a Franz Harmle Regency watch for approximately $330, a Napoleon III-style black wood and tortoiseshell case for approximately $600 and a luxury watch valued at slightly less than $1,800. These are not small numbers for the layman, but the prices are exactly the same as eBay (shopee in Vietnam can be compared to Lazada). Meanwhile, the list price of the Franz Harmle watch is 1,100 USD, but the actual price will be higher if the actual price is higher.
