On the afternoon of August 23, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Trung, secretary of the Binh Dinh Provincial Youth Association, said that under the authorization of the Central Youth Association, representatives of the Binh Dinh Provincial Youth Association came to the house to hand over the decision to save their friend from drowning. Mr. Union member Nguyen Hue Thiep (20 years old, from Luat Chanh village, Phuoc Hiep commune, Tuy Phuoc district) was posthumously awarded the “Brave Youth” badge for his brave and selfless actions.
On this occasion, the Binh Dinh Provincial Youth Association also awarded the Merit Card posthumously for the above brave act.
According to information received from the Binh Dinh Provincial Youth Association, Thiep and a group of six people from the same village went to the beach of Vinh Hoi Village (Cat Hai Commune, Phu Cat District) at around 4 pm on August 3.
At this time, a friend in the group was swept away by the waves, so he swam to the rescue. Some people and rescue workers on the spot also came in support and rescued the man on the shore.
However, Taip was swept away by the waves and disappeared.
At 17:30 on 3 August, Thiep’s body was found by functional forces.
