Kia America this week added a series of details about the Kia EV9 – the new flagship electric SUV they’re due to launch this year. The car is confirmed to have 4 configurations from low to high namely Lite, Wind, Land and GT-Line respectively. In the future, a high-performance GT variant will also be added.
On the lowest Lite variant, the Kia EV9 comes equipped with default LED lights, 19-inch alloy wheels, soundproof front window glass and exterior touch-sensitive wipers. The cabin, even in the lowest variant, has 3 screens, including an entertainment screen and a 12.3-inch copper digital dashboard and a 5-inch screen for the air conditioning.
Leatherette steering wheel, LED backlight, 3-zone automatic climate control, 8-way power front seats/heating/ventilation, wireless phone charging dock, 8 entertainment speakers and fingerprint reader are some of the equipment. Others are notable.

The transmission array of the Kia EV9 Lite Edition uses a 76.1 kWh battery to power a single rear-axle motor with parameters of 215 hp/349Nm. This version has an operating range of 360 km, can charge the battery from 10 to 80% in 25 minutes.
For those customers who worry that the above range is not enough, Kia offers an upgrade package called Long Range. This option boosts the battery to 99.8 kWh, while reducing the motor specification to 201 hp/349Nm to provide a range of 483 km.
Coming to the Kia EV9 Wind, the exterior of the SUV is slightly different with dual panoramic sunroofs. In the interior of the car there is a heated steering wheel (on the Lite version it is an external device).
The biggest change on the Kia EV9 Wind is the use of a 99.8 kWh battery pack combined with 2 electric motors for a total power of 379 hp and 699 Nm torque. Combined with the default heat pump, the vehicle’s operational range reaches 435 km.

The most advanced regular variant called the Kia EV9 Land has several unique points compared to the two configurations below. “Small Cube” LED headlights, heatsink mounted lamps, 20-inch alloy wheels, anti-glare side mirrors, glossy black trim all around, soundproof rear window and external charging port are some examples.
The interior of this version has also been changed with the option of 6 seats. Each seat is rich in equipment, such as heated/ventilated rear seats. Electric steering column, digital rearview mirror, heated steering wheel with Kia logo with lights, interior backlighting or high-end 14-speaker system are also notable upgrades.
The vehicle’s powertrain remains the same as the Wind variant, but the operating range is reduced to 407 km (can increase to 435 km if converted to smaller wheels like the lower variant).

Finally, the tentative pinnacle of the Kia EV9 lineup is the GT-Line variant. This pseudo-sport configuration includes its own upgraded suspension, 21-inch two-tone wheels, special sport head/tail and gloss black ceiling mounts.
The cabin also gets stainless steel pedals and sport seats, apart from the exclusive trim. The vehicle’s operating range is reduced to 391 km, due to the varied equipment array that adds weight.
Kia is expected to make the EV9 pricing public in the fourth quarter. The price is expected to be no lower than its current 3-row flagship SUV, the Telluride.
