Sheet bestcarweb Some new information has been posted about the SUV version of the Toyota Century due later this August. In a first the series of super-luxury cars exclusive to Japan will now have an SUV configuration. This information was confirmed at the launch ceremony of the new Toyota Alphard, held in Japan in June.
At the time, Simon Humphreys, Toyota brand director, confirmed that they were developing an SUV version for the Century.
The high chassis configuration of the namesake line has always been the number one pinnacle of this Toyota lineup when only a teaser image was released revealing the square shape of the Rolls-Royce Cullinan.

by page bestcarwebThe chassis that is expected to be used is the TNGA-K series like the Toyota Alphard/Vellfire, Lexus LM and Toyota Highlander/Lexus TX. Due to this change, the V8 engine of the Century sedan will not be available in the SUV version.
Instead, the selected version will be a 406-horsepower 3.5-liter hybrid V6 with an 8-speed automatic transmission and 2-wheel drive. This is the configuration seen on the base Lexus TX 550h+.
Some other details about the Toyota Century SUV come from the size and the cabin. The space inside the car has only 2 rows of seats by default to best serve the boss sitting at the back. The vehicle’s wheelbase becomes 50 mm longer than the Lexus TX while it drops to around 3,000 mm.
The good distance between these two axes, combined with the high roofline, will create an extremely spacious and generous interior space for the users.

The starting price of the Toyota Century SUV may be lower than the available sedan version at 15 million yen instead of 20 million yen (VND 2.46 billion and VND 3.26 billion respectively after conversion), possibly because the rarity is not as high as it would be outside Japan. Exported to the markets of The car will be released later this year.
