Despite having a top speed of only 45 km/h and an 8-horsepower electric motor, the Citroën Ami Mini electric car is still touted as the “perfect urban supercar”.

Although not officially sold in Vietnam, the Citroën Ami is still known to many when it became the basis for Vinfast’s spec mini electric car model before the VF3 was officially introduced.

In the overseas market, the Citroën Ami has proved to be a strong name in the mini electric car segment when it has been selling well. The same applies for the variants of this model. For example, the limited edition Citroen My Ami Buggy sold out after just a few hours of sale

Not resting on the laurels, French automaker Citroën is looking for ways to promote the Ami image even more strongly.

Citroen UK’s latest marketing campaign is to launch a gold-plated Ami across the country, ready to stand next to supercars and luxury cars to prove that they are no less.

The unique Citroen Ami has been painted in a glossy paint job that looks like it has been plated with gold, making the mini electric car look like an expensive supercar. Thanks to this, Ami especially attracted the attention of passers-by

Supercars that turned into “backdrops” for the Citroën Ami include a range of supercars from Ferrari (488 GTB, F8 Tributo, Roma, Portofino M and 430 Stradale) and Lamborghini (Huracan Streato, Huracan Performante and Murciélago).

The “Chilli” electric car was seen parked next to insanely luxurious models like the Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe and Bentley Mulsanne, or the expensive classic Aston Martin DB5.

Following the show in London, the Citroën Ami will launch similar shows across the UK. People who come to the Ami Hub for the event can scan the QR code and enter a contest to win 1 of these 7 “limited edition” mini electric cars.

Apart from marketing, the Amy can beat the supercars in terms of price and convenience when it comes to parking or driving on the roads. Also, unlike gas-guzzling models, the Ami can enter any of these “green zones”, which are being operated in many places to curb smoke emissions.
