The Yangtze U6 has been revealed in EU patent images and camouflaged vehicle images leaked on social media. It is a relatively large sedan, which aims to compete with luxury electric cars like Mercedes-Benz EQS, BMW i7, Tesla Model S plaid. BYD once impressed by launching two high-end electric car models with many impressive parameters and features while still being relatively affordable: the Yangwang U8 and U9.
The Yangwang U8 is an off-road SUV that can turn on the spot, move sideways like a crab, or float on water thanks to its sealed, water-resistant body.
The Yangwang U9 has more than 1,000 horsepower, the ability to “jump” after a tire blowout, and operate on three wheels.
Following those two impressive models, BYD is set to launch the Yangwang U6 electric supercar. This car model was showcased at the Auto Shanghai 2023 exhibition, information about which was leaked through images from the EU Patent Office.

Accordingly, the Yangwang U6 will likely compete directly with the Tesla Model S. Even the exterior design is clearly influenced by the rival as well, the Porsche Taycan. The car features a low beltline (a straight line connecting the bonnet from the lower edge of the window to the rear of the car), a camera instead of a rearview mirror, retractable door handles, a rear spoiler and aerodynamic rim covers.
All the above features together bring the most impressive point to U6: the wind resistance index of only 0.195 Cd, which is more effective than Tesla Model S plaid (0.208 Cd), Lucid Air (0.21 Cd), Mercedes-Benz EQS (0.21 Cd), and Mercedes-Benz EQS (0.20 Cd). (0.2 cd), Neo ET7 (0.208 cd), Hyundai Ioniq 6 (0.21 cd) or Bugatti Chiron (0.3).
Wind resistance index is a quantity that reflects the ability of a vehicle to slide on the road. The lower the index, the faster the car will go.

However, F1 racing cars often have a drag index of 1.00 Cd and are still strong enough to “smoke” cars with a better drag index. Because this index does not represent stable vehicle operation.
Even high-performance cars often have a high drag index because they need to use air to create pressure on the road surface, helping the car remain stable when going through turns at high speed. Is available.
The real-life image of the car is still shrouded in camouflage. The U6 will have 3 engine options, including pure electric, plug in hybrid and extended range electric vehicle (EREV). This is also one of the reasons why in the recent drag races (short distance racing) organized by Red Bull, F1 has never finished first in all 3 races. But if you play enough rounds, the outcome can be quite the opposite.
Ultimately, the U6’s performance will have to wait until the car is actually launched. At present, the U6 has not set an official launch date or sale date, but the price is reported to be around 110,000 USD, which is cheaper than the rival Tesla Model S plaid.
