On September 15, 11 extremely beautiful license plates began to be posted on the online auction platform. These are the license plates that were put up for auction on August 22 but could not be successfully executed due to technical problems.

As a result, many “hot” license plates belonging to the number ranges of large cities are worth tens of billions of dollars.

At the start of the auction, 19A-555.55 was the first number plate officially listed on the floor. After an hour, the auction ended with the price set at VND2.69 billion. Mr Do Tien Thanh (from Phu Tho, who organized the successful auction) said it was an acceptable price.

As a longtime fan of beautiful license plates, Mr. Thanh said that before entering the contest, he had set himself the maximum number he would pay to avoid getting caught in price fluctuations.

Mr Thanh believes he is somewhat lucky. “At the last second, in order to succeed, I had to press the F5 key continuously. At that time, I thought it would fail, but I did not expect that the screen would say that I had won the auction of this beautiful license plate, ” Mr. Thanh said excitedly.

Mr Thanh said he wanted this license plate because it was the first license plate to be auctioned in the country and it was also from his hometown – Phu Tho. He confirmed that he would pay a substantial amount of money to obtain this license plate and attach it to the white BMW 735i that his family members had previously purchased.

On the afternoon of September 15, license plate number 51K-888.88 was auctioned at the Ho Chi Minh City license plate range. At the end of the session, the winning bid was announced by Vietnam Auction Partnership Company as 32.34 billion VND. This is the highest number of 11 license plates offered for auction that day.

According to Tuoi Tre’s research, the winner of this license plate auction is Mr. HXH (from Thanh Hoa). As of the afternoon of 15 September, Mr H. still had no information about the incident.

Re-auction the license plate if the winner doesn’t pay enough money.

Explaining that buyers are willing to spend a lot of money to participate in the auction, Mr. D.Th (a well-known license plate collector in Hanoi) said: “At present, only the license plate that wins the auction can be sold The license plate comes with the car. Plus, the buyer is still identified. This means they can buy that car, then sell the car, keep the license plate, and use it on another car. Can install.”

According to lawyer Le Hong Hien – Hanoi Bar Association, currently Government Decree 39/2023/ND-CP clearly stipulates the cases of winning a car license plate auction within 15 days from the date of issue. Notification of results requires payment of the entire auction winning quantity. This amount is deducted from the down payment and does not include vehicle registration fees.

Also in this decree the government also clearly says that if the auction winner does not pay sufficient amount within the stipulated time, the auction result will be cancelled. The license plate will be re-auctioned, and the deposit amount (40 million VND) will not be refunded and will be paid into the state budget.

Mr. Hien also confirmed that there are currently no restrictions for cases of leaving license plate auction deposits.
