This is the first visit of the Speaker of the National Assembly of Vietnam to Bangladesh, which comes in the context that both countries are celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (February 11, 1973 – February 11, 2023).
At the meeting after the welcome ceremony, the two leaders said the two sides share many similarities in history, geography, culture, especially the tradition of fighting for freedom and national independence under the leadership of President Ho Chi Minh. Minh and the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman of Bangladesh led the way.

Discussing bilateral relations, the two leaders assessed that there is a solid foundation of mutual trust and emotional attachment between several generations of leaders and people of the two countries. Both countries are gradually moving towards the target of bilateral trade turnover of US$ 2 billion.
In the spirit of assessing that both countries still have a lot of potential and strengths that have not been fully exploited, both sides agreed on a number of key directions to bring cooperative relations to a new level.
At the end of the talks, the two leaders signed a Memorandum of Cooperation between the two Parliaments and witnessed the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Cooperation between the two National Assembly Offices. On this occasion, the National Assemblies of Vietnam and Bangladesh announced the establishment of the Parliamentary Friendship Group of the Parliaments of the two countries.
Speaker of the National Assembly Vuong Dinh Hue extended an invitation to the Speaker of the National Assembly of Bangladesh to visit Vietnam at a convenient time and Ms. Shirin Sharmin Choudhury gladly accepted it.
Earlier, Speaker of the National Assembly Vuong Dinh Hue and a high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly laid wreath at the Memorial Museum of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahma of Bangladesh.
