Nguyen Van Nan, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, highly appreciated the working visit of the new Italian Ambassador to Vietnam Marco Della Setta on the occasion of celebrating 50 years of the establishment of diplomatic relations and 10 years of partnership between the two countries .

According to Mr Nan, there have been many changes in the world situation in the last 50 years but the friendship between the two countries has still progressed positively. Mr Nan cited the story of an Italian ship landing at Hai Phong port in 1973 to provide basic necessities to the Vietnamese people as proof of the sincerity and loyalty in the two countries’ relations.
The people of Vietnam in general and Ho Chi Minh City in particular will not forget the noble actions of the Italian people during difficult times. The Ho Chi Minh City Secretary is pleased that Italy and Vietnam are expanding cooperation in many areas.
According to Secretary Nan, at present, Ho Chi Minh City has many cooperative relationships with Italian neighborhoods and there is still much room for further development in the future.

Mr Nan congratulated the Italian Ambassador on his new assignment and expressed hope that the Ambassador will contribute to promoting investment from Italy to Vietnam in many areas such as trade, culture and science.
In response, Italian Ambassador Marco Della Seta confirmed that this working visit is very important because he just took office in August and this is the first time he has set foot in Ho Chi Minh City.
According to Mr Seta, Italy sees Ho Chi Minh City as a very important location for investment and it has many similarities with Milan when it comes to industrial development. The Italian Ambassador remarked that cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City and Italy is not only economic and trade but can also extend to the fields of culture and education.
Italy is a country that has considerable experience and capacity in preserving monuments and is willing to share it with Ho Chi Minh City. This could be an upcoming area of cooperation between Italy and Ho Chi Minh City.
In early October, a delegation from the Lombardy region will visit Ho Chi Minh City. Lombardy is a large and rich land, famous for many high-quality European products. The Italian Ambassador said this is a good opportunity for the parties to discuss cooperation.
