On the afternoon of October 24, the Quang Tri Provincial Youth Association confirmed that a group of students from Le Quy Don High School (Dong Ha City) organized a plan to plant and regenerate natural forests in sub-area 700 of the Dakrong Nature Reserve. This is a campaign sponsored by the Provincial Youth Association. On the initial day of the campaign, a total of 1,000 forest trees including green lime, sulcus, sycamore, flowering shrubs, sandalwood… were planted by the group in natural forests.
Accordingly, this afforestation project was born in August 2023 by the above group of students under the name Green Era.
After the call period, the group raised contributions of more than 120 million VND. This amount was used by the group to purchase 1,000 native plants. Dakrong Nature Reserve is the location chosen and approached by the group to plant these trees.
After completing the first round of planting on one hectare of forest area, the group will continue to call for a second round of funding to expand the forest planting area to other areas.
According to Green Era Project founder Lam Hong Fook – an 11th grade English student – the idea was born with the mission of greening natural forests and contributing to protecting the green environment from the effects of climate change.
Mr. Ha Si Dong, Permanent Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Quang Tri Province, said that the students carried out a project to mobilize and advise people to participate in planting native trees in the province, especially a series of protective forests and special forests.
