During the past 18 months, Daniel and Davy Macias have been very careful about Covid-19. From the beginning of the pandemic, they maintained very disciplined habits: always wiping surfaces before contact, always showering after coming home from work, even showering after receiving delivery. But somehow, they themselves also contracted Covid.
Davy Macias (37 years old) is an obstetric nurse in Southern California, hospitalized with Covid-19 while pregnant with her 5th child at 7 months. Daniel Macias has also been infected. Davy’s condition worsened, forcing him to put on a breathing tube. At this time, the doctors operated to bring the baby out early for fear that Davy could not take it anymore. The child was safe, but she died before she could see her face.
Daniel Macias (38) was also treated at the same hospital, and he knew his baby was born. But he could only see his son through a picture taken by the nurse, and then died forever due to severe complications of the virus less than 2 weeks later. The newborn baby is a girl, but before her parents can name it, she has become an orphan, just like her 4 siblings are at home.
Terry Macias – Daniel’s mother narrated the whole incident. She said that the couple, who were unvaccinated, died on August 26 and September 9, respectively, leaving behind five helpless children. The oldest is only 8 years old, while the youngest is less than a month old.
“It’s not like they don’t want the injection. It’s already planned,” – she regretted. She also defended this decision, saying it is a personal choice and everyone has the right to find out before vaccination. Ms Macias believes her son and daughter-in-law contracted the virus after the family went to the water park before the new school year.
With the death of her son and son, Mrs. Terry now has to single-handedly raise the children, and is responsible for telling them the painful truth that their parents are no more. Her 8-year-old eldest son and 5-year-old daughter know that their parents have gone away, but she is not sure if the grandchildren understand that their parents will never return.
On September 9, her 3-year-old daughter woke up and said she dreamed of her father coming home from the hospital, only to hear that her father was indeed dead. The little girl sobbed and told her grandmother about the dream that was very real. But “sometimes dreams are just dreams, my dear,” ‘ said Terry sadly.
The “familiar” pain of Americans
Right before the pandemic hit, husband and wife Davy and Daniel sold their house and moved in with their grandparents. To Mrs. Terry, her daughter-in-law is a flying woman who loves art, loves crafts and wants her children to go out and play. Her son is a middle school math teacher, always has a smile on his face and is loved by everyone. The passing of both has made the family extremely sad, still surprised to this day.
“We didn’t expect this. Covid has no tolerance. It’s a lottery, and it can happen to anyone.”
In fact, such heartbreaking stories do not only happen once in America, and become a somewhat familiar pain. In August 2021, the couple Lydia and Lawrence Rodriguez also died 2 weeks apart after contracting Covid-19. Both belong to the anti-vax community. And Lydia’s last words before she died were only one: Please, make sure my children are vaccinated.

Michael Freed (also known as Big Mike because of his large, healthy body), father of 5 children is also a confident person who did not need to be vaccinated and contracted Covid-19 in mid-July 2021. At the end of that month, Michael’s illness turned very serious, unable to be cured. The last text he sent to his wife – DuPreez was: “You should have gotten that damn vaccine.”
What the victims all have in common is that they are not vaccinated, infected and suffer the most devastating consequences that the virus causes. In fact, the vaccination situation in the US is also more complicated when there are tens of millions of people who are eligible but still refuse to get vaccinated. Delta mutants are still tormenting this country.
