In April 2020, Cambodia closed its borders to control the spread of Covid-19. In 2020, the country has no deaths and only recorded nearly 400 infections, most of them imported or near the border.

However, by February 2021, Covid-19 began to spread everywhere, forcing Cambodia to impose a strict nationwide blockade for 2 months.

On September 7, the Cambodian Ministry of Health announced that it had recorded 11 more deaths and 511 new cases within 24 hours, including 152 imported cases and 359 community infections. As of September 7, Cambodia recorded a total of 96,339 cases of Covid-19, including 1,981 deaths.

On September 7, the Lao Ministry of Health recorded 307 new cases in 24 hours, of which 221 were imported and 86 were outside the community. The announcement of the Ministry of Health said that the number of new cases was high and worrying because many infections were recorded in the community.

In particular, in the past week, the number of infections among frontline workers has spiked, affecting nurses, police officers, military personnel and customs officials. Facing the above situation, the ministry continues to urge people to strictly follow epidemic prevention measures to prevent the risk of a third wave of epidemics in the community.

Up to now, the total number of Covid-19 cases in Laos is 16,365, of which 16 have died.

On the same day, New Zealand recorded 21 new cases of community transmission. All cases are in Auckland City, bringing the total number of cases in the latest outbreak to 841. All of these cases were infected with the Delta variant.

At a press conference, New Zealand’s top health official, Ashley Bloomfield, said that so far, Auckland alone has recorded 824 cases of infection in the community and the capital Wellington has 17 cases. Of the domestic cases, 39 require hospitalization. To date, the total number of Covid-19 cases in New Zealand has reached 3,813 cases.
