The video shows the animal violently shaking its body and head causing the mahout to fall to the ground. The animal then looked annoyed and turned to attack the man, trying to stomp on him, however, the man ran away quickly.

The incident happened at Thiruvilwamala Vilwadrinatha Temple located in Thrissur city on Friday night during a Nirmalyam ritual. The elephant is said to have also kicked a Deepastambham lamp at the temple.

According to Mathrubhumi News, the mahout suffered minor skin injuries. His elephant, identified as Pananchery Parameshwaran, was tamed after efforts that lasted nearly 1.5 hours when the elephant management team and forestry officers arrived.
