At least three people were killed, seven were seriously injured, most with broken bones and head injuries. One person is still trapped in the rubble of a collapsed building.

The quake also triggered multiple landslides in a district with steep hills, cutting off traffic to at least three villages.

Many houses and government offices in Trunyan and Kintamani, two popular tourist villages on the island of Bali, were damaged.

No tsunami warning has been issued, but local authorities are advising residents to stay alert and prepare for the possibility of other aftershocks.
