Google Play Pass launched in India

According to Gadget360, Google Play Pass has finally launched in India, more than 2 years after its launch in the US. The paid subscription service will provide access to Android apps and games, without ads and in-app purchases. The service competes with Apple Arcade, known for its ability to provide an ad-free experience on games exclusively for iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, and Apple TV.

Google has announced that Play Pass will be rolling out to Android devices in India this week. Offers a curated collection of over 1,000 titles in 41 categories from developers in 59 countries. The service also includes 15 titles from Indian developers including games like Jungle Adventures by Rendered Ideas and World Cricket Battle 2 by Creative Monkey Games.

Google said it will continue to work with developers worldwide and in India to add new games and apps to the Play Pass each month. The developers have also been given a dedicated website where they can nominate their games for the service.

India is the second-largest app download market after China, according to application analytics firm Data.ai. The country is also one of the fastest growing app markets around the world.

Introduced in the US in September 2019, Google Play Pass is Google’s answer to Apple’s Apple Arcade. Play Pass provides small developers with a global reach as the service is currently available in 90 countries around the world. However, the exact number of Play Pass subscribers has yet to be revealed by Google.
