Hillary Clinton’s lawyer perjured in the Trump-Russia investigation

Michael Sussmann, a lawyer representing Hillary Clinton, was charged with perjury to the FBI in the investigation of ties between Russia and Donald Trump.

Michael Sussmann, a lawyer who represented Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign, is the second person to be indicted by special counsel John Durham. According to the Special Counsel’s office, when providing evidence about Trump to US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) official James Baker on September 19, 2016, he made a false statement.

Under the decision to prosecute, Durham argued that Sussmann was lying when he asserted at the meeting with Baker that he did not represent any of his clients. That day, Sussmann provided the FBI with documents and data that included evidence of a suspicious connection between the Trump Organization and a bank located in Russia.

The Special Counsel’s Office stressed that Sussmann did not provide information to the FBI as a “model citizen,” but rather as an attorney representing three legal entities: a US technology industry executive, a network company and Clinton’s presidential campaign.

Michael Sussmann is an associate in the law firm of Perkins Coie. He was a lawyer representing the Democratic National Committee (DNC) when authorities investigated allegations that Russian hackers hacked the computer system of the organization in the middle of the US election.

John Durham’s investigation began in 2019, during the presidency of Donald Trump. The US Justice Department then wanted to clarify what motivated the FBI to look into links between the Trump campaign and Russia in 2016.

After taking office, President Joe Biden decided to continue the investigation. Durham’s investigation has the privilege of examining every action taken by the FBI and Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) in the early stages of the Trump-Russia investigation, and also looking at a number of non-governmental individuals with ties contact investigation.

Michael Sussmann is a former federal prosecutor specializing in cybersecurity. Lawyers representing him affirmed that the client is a reputable national security lawyer who has worked in many Democratic and Republican governments and will certainly successfully defend his reputation against the new accusations. .
