Japan confirmed the appearance of an Eta variant of the SARS-CoV-2 virus

The Eta variant of the SARS-CoV-2 virus was first detected in the UK in December 2020. According to the Japanese Ministry of Health, the National Institute of Infectious Diseases detected cases of Eta variant infection through genetic analysis of samples taken from people who tested positive after arriving in Japan since December. 2020 to last September 3.
