Japan donates more than 400,000 doses of vaccine to Vietnam

Japanese Prime Minister Suga Yoshihide informed President Nguyen Xuan Phuc that he would donate another 400,000 doses of Covid-19 vaccine to Vietnam.

Prime Minister Suga pledged to continue to support Vietnam in the fight against Covid-19 and thanked Vietnam for its interest in vaccinating Japanese citizens as well as supporting Japanese businesses in Vietnam.

President Nguyen Xuan Phuc thanked Japan for actively supporting Vietnam in the fight against Covid-19 and supporting the nearly 450,000 Vietnamese community in this country.

According to the Vaccine Diplomacy Working Group, by the end of August, Vietnam had received 33 million doses of the vaccine and may receive another 16-17 million doses this month.

Vietnam aims to receive 150 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine in 2021 to immunize about 70% of the population, in order to achieve herd immunity. As of September 14, the total dose of the vaccine has been administered is more than 31.2 million doses, of which 25.4 million doses are given with one dose, and 5.8 million doses are given for the second injection.
