The giant yacht, estimated to cost up to $ 500 million of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, is revealed at a Dutch shipyard.
Several images appeared on Twitter last week showing US billionaire Jeff Bezos’ Y721 yacht, about 127 meters long, appearing at a shipyard in the town of Zwijndrecht, in the west of the Netherlands.
The Dutch Yachting YouTube channel also posted a video of the yacht’s exterior, which is under construction. Y721 is manufactured by Dutch yacht manufacturer Oceanco, with a value of up to 500 million USD.
Billionaire Benzos’ yacht was then brought to the town of Alblasserdam, performing the final test after completion. Despite a series of sources confirming that this is the yacht of the US billionaire, the manufacturer Oceanco declined to comment for the reason of “confidentiality of customer information”.
Journalist Brad Stone previously said that entering the world of luxury yacht owners heralds “Bezos’ transformation from a tech-savvy technologist to a dollar billionaire”.
The Evening Standard reported that billionaire Benzos’ superyacht could be modeled after Oceanco’s “Black Pearl”, one of the largest yachts in the world. The American billionaire is expected to receive the superyacht in 2022, after the Y721 completes sea trials.
One of the world’s largest superyachts is widely known before that is the Octopus, 126 m long, by Paul Allen, the co-founder of Microsoft. In 2019, nearly a year after Allen’s death, the yacht was valued at about $325 million.
