Trump Princess – “Trump’s Princess”?
According to Boat International, this 86m superyacht was once a valuable asset of arms dealer Adnan Khashoggi, named after his only daughter – Nabila, which was put on the market after Khashoggi defaulted.
Billionaire Donald Trump offered $30 million to own this one-of-a-kind superyacht. The fact that Trump spent money to buy “Princess” surprised many people. He doesn’t go windsurfing, doesn’t swim often, tries to stay out of the sun, and has never owned a large boat before. He doesn’t even like boats anymore. “I don’t like them. I used to go sailing with you and just wanted to get off as soon as possible,” he said with a shrug.
So why spend nearly 30 million dollars on something you don’t like? Perhaps the superyacht made Trump “shaken” a little, enough for him to see it as “an amazing thing”, “a supreme item”. Since Khashoggi didn’t want anyone else to own a yacht named after his daughter, Trump got a $1 million discount just by agreeing to change the yacht’s name! He chose the name Trump Princess, an artistic name different from the billionaire’s inherent pragmatism, to pay homage to this beauty.

The yacht is located at Trump’s new Farley marina within sight of his Atlantic City casino. Its impressive elegance is a special privilege for the players at the tables. It also becomes a place for the rich to gather and donate money to charity.
What does Trump Princess have that conquers Donald Trump – a boat hater?
This extremely lavish yacht was designed by the famous British designer Jon Bannenberg. It cost $35 million to build at Benetti’s shipyard in Viareggio, Italy, in 1980. That cost quickly piled up, however (and it’s not known how much it was “funded”). when the famous Italian designer Luigi was tasked with creating fabulous ostentatious interiors.

Some of the features on this yacht will make even the Royal Family swoon with envy. Everything from the floor to the shower is handcrafted from beautiful onyx, hand-carved by the finest Italian craftsmen. The shell-shaped showerhead in the host room alone took a year for the team of Italian craftsmen to hand-carve from a giant piece of onyx. It has 13 nozzles for the ultimate showering experience.

Many of the most lavish parties of former owner Khashoggi took place here. Not only movie stars but also politicians and diplomats were invited on board. Once, 5 heads of state – including 3 kings – were simultaneously entertained on the “Princess”.

Trump praised his “Princess” as follows: “I bought a wonderful piece of art at a ridiculously low price.”
An expensive renovation
It’s lavish, but there are also many details that Trump doesn’t fit the old owner’s taste very well. He demolished the three-seater hair salon and replaced it with a hat-keeping room. The most brilliant room becomes a children’s playroom. He also had the hull repainted, the main engines rebuilt and the letter “T” – his initials – added to the helipad.

Renovation costs are around $8.5 million, but when you’ve spent $29 million on a floating wonder, why not spend a few million more to make it your own. After all, maintaining this superyacht costs about $2.5 million a year. According to the Quote Database, American banker and financier JP Morgan once said, “Anyone who has to ask about a yacht’s annual maintenance can’t afford a part of it.”
Where is Trump Princess now?
Donald Trump sold the Trump Princess in 1991 for $19 million. It was renamed Kingdom 5KR by its new owner, Prince Alwaleed bin Talal of Saudi Arabia. It now spends most of its time in the south of France, the city of Antibes. The boat is sometimes seen going to Cannes or nearby Monte Carlo. From a sentimental arms dealer for the future US president to an Arab Prince, “Trump Princess” is a true princess!
