Recently, Andrea Temarantz (42 years old) from Arizona, USA shared the story of her 5-year-old son Ryder’s battle with illness, surprising many parents.
Ryder is a boy born with Down syndrome. Like every other parent, Andrea and her husband also often take pictures of their children, saving images of the baby’s growth process. When Ryder was 3 months old, the mother suddenly noticed an unusual mark in the picture of her son. Ryder’s left eye had a strange white light flashing.
When taking pictures, baby Ryder’s left eye lights up strangely
In the first few photos, people simply thought it was the flash. But the following photos were taken from a different angle, at another time of baby Ryder, still having the same light. At this point, Andrea thought that the problem was due to the poor quality of photos taken from the phone, so she ignored it and didn’t pay attention anymore.
A few months later, her husband, Joey, bought a professional camera. The pictures of baby Ryder still have the same unusual features. Strangely, during a routine visit to the family doctor for their child, the couple received an answer that made them extremely worried. Strange signs in baby Ryder’s eyes could be caused by a tumor.
The very next day, Andrea and her husband took their child to a specialist doctor for a checkup. Couple together cried when after a series of tests, the doctor diagnosed baby Ryder with cancer for a while. The type of disease the boy has is u retinoblastoma – a rare and dangerous form of cancer in children.
The most common sign of the disease is a white spot in the center of the eye when bright light is on or when it is dark. Ryder has appeared this recognition symptom for a long time, but because of subjectivity, his parents have ignored it. Andrea said the family deeply regrets that this disease has a higher chance of cure if it is detected and treated early.
Ryder is now cured after a long treatment
Fortunately, recently, baby Ryder was successfully diagnosed and treated after a long effort of family and doctors. In an interview with the press, Ms Andrea Temarantz said she wants to send a warning to parents: “Ryder had to check 40 times before doctors could confirm that he was cured of cancer. However, my son still needs to be closely monitored for many years to come. Everyone, please do not be subjective but pay attention to every sign. abnormal signs of the child. Also, do not forget to take your child for an eye exam every 6 months.”.
