AmericaAn 11-year-old girl survived by faking her own death while a gunman shot dead four family members in Florida, including a mother holding her three-month-old son.

Early on the morning of September 5, former Marine Bryan Riley, 33, broke into a house in Lakeland, Florida and shot and killed four people. The little girl was the only survivor.

“The girl told investigators, ‘I believe I survived by pretending to be dead and praying,'” Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said, adding that the girl is stable and being treated at the hospital. Tampa city.

Riley was held without bail for four counts of first-degree murder. Those shot dead by Riley include Justice Gleason, 40, his girlfriend Theresa Lanham, 33, their three-month-old son Jody and Lanham’s 62-year-old mother, Catherine Delgado. Mrs. Delgado is the owner of the house. Riley is also accused of killing the family dog.

Neighbor Miguel Rivera said someone had banged on his window on the morning of September 5, but when he checked, no one was there. A few minutes later, he heard gunfire. Rivera I believe Riley might have killed you if you had checked the door sooner.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office said Riley served in wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Riley’s neighbors say he is quiet and doesn’t communicate with anyone, but last week he stopped a woman with cancer and said: “I want to pray for you.”

Investigators said Riley pleaded guilty and admitted to taking meth. Riley’s girlfriend says he was never violent, but became increasingly capricious. Riley previously worked as a security guard and had no criminal record.
