Born in 1959 in the southwest of Spain, Hidalgo moved to the city of Lyon in central France at the age of 2 and later became a French citizen at the age of 14.
She worked as an engineer and labor inspector before turning to politics.
As mayor of Paris, Ms. Hidalgo’s tenure has been particularly challenging, including a series of terrorist attacks in 2015, anti-government protests by the Yellow Vests, and the German Cathedral fire. in 2019, the COVID-19 pandemic.
However, she also achieved her mark when successfully organizing the 2015 United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP 21), winning the right to host the 2024 Olympic Games.
