The combat vehicles are all mounted on the MT-T crawler chassis, which has better maneuverability on complex terrain than the wheeled vehicle of the S-300P system. Each TELAR can carry up to four 9M83 missiles with a range of 75 km, or two larger 9M82 missiles with a range of about 100 km.

Russia is operating many modernized versions of this system including S-300VM and S-300V4 with a maximum range of up to 400 km.
