The Taliban poured 3,000 liters of alcohol into the canal

Video released by the Taliban government’s General Directorate of Intelligence (GDI) shows their staff dumping alcohol in barrels into a canal after seizing them during a raid in the capital, according to Daily Pakistan.

“Muslims must strictly abstain from mixing and delivering alcohol,” an intelligence official said in a video posted on Twitter on Monday. It is not clear when the raid took place or when the alcohol was destroyed.

However, the agency’s statement said the owners of three alcohol businesses were arrested after the Taliban carried out surprise inspections.

The Taliban are quite strict on alcohol as they are banned in Islam and considered illegal. The consumption of alcohol is also considered unclean.

Since the Taliban took control of Afghanistan on August 15, 2021, the frequency of surprise inspections has increased across the country. Drug addicts in Afghanistan are also targeted. Previously, the Taliban government also issued a number of rules to limit women’s rights.
