virtueAbout 100 men from around the world gather at the “Bear Olympics” in Eging am See to find out who has the best beard.
The “beard Olympics” took place in Eging am See, Lower Bavaria, Germany, over the weekend, attracting not only domestic contestants but also contestants from the Netherlands, Austria, Italy, Switzerland and Israel.
Contestants were judged in a variety of categories, from styled beards to natural beards. The jury consists of 7 trained hairdressers, tasked with selecting the best beards.
“Growing the beard is really the most important thing,” said Christian Feicht, president of the Eastern Bavarian Beard and Mustache Club, the organizers of the “beard Olympics”, adding that judges will judge many elements of a beard such as bushiness and length.
The Beard Olympics are open to everyone, but entrants need to be local residents or members of a club. Feicht said the contestants were “ambitious and serious” even though it was just a fun contest.
