According to recent information, after Vietnam has ensured stable vaccine coverage in the population, it will gradually apply the so-called “vaccine green card”. This is essentially a solution applied by many countries around the world towards the new normal society. And here’s what we need to know about it.
What is a vaccine green card?
Countries around the world use the term “vaccine pass” (or green pass) for this card, and also do not distinguish between vaccine green cards or vaccine passports, because they are similar in purpose.
Essentially, a vaccine green card is an electronic card that stores an individual’s vaccination information – usually in the form of a QR code, which can be easily accessed by smartphone or printed on regular hardcopy. This card is valid to certify that a person has been fully vaccinated with Covid vaccine (2-4 weeks after the 2nd dose), or confirmed that the patient is infected with Covid and has recovered (keeping antibodies for 6 days). next month). There are also a few certificates that document the status and duration of the negative test.
And when it has proven its “safety”, this card allows people to use public services, move between countries without isolation (or isolation with less time). , participate in mass gathering events, reduce epidemic prevention regulations, thereby bringing life back to normal gradually.
How do countries apply the vaccine green card?
The UK has since July announced plans to allow fully vaccinated people to enter nightclubs and crowded facilities, scheduled to start at the end of September. And to control it, they use vaccine certification. through a mobile app provided by the National Health Service, called NHS Covid Pass.
This certification allows people who have had 2 vaccinations to not need to be isolated even though they come from high-risk countries. But even so, depending on the location and situation, they may still be required to self-isolate at home for a certain period of time.
At least more than 30 countries – including Greece and Spain – have accepted British vaccination certificates.
The European Union (EU) also issued a vaccine passport for 27 member states. Citizens of these countries can easily download it or print it out at no cost. But of course, it is necessary to be fully vaccinated or have a valid negative test to access this certification.
EU regulations say anyone with this certification will not need to be tested or quarantined when traveling between countries in the bloc.
However, the EU countries themselves still have their own certifications. Like France, they issue health cards that allow eligible people to enter restaurants, bars, take a plane or train. This card is for people who have had 2 vaccinations, tested negative, or have just recovered from Covid-19 infection. It becomes mandatory for all adults from the beginning of August 2021, and will include children from September 30.
Israel was one of the first countries to apply the vaccine pass in early 2021 thanks to an early vaccination campaign. This card proves that the owner has received 2 injections, or has been infected and recovered from the disease recently.
As the number of infections dropped, authorities decided to revoke the vaccine card request. However, when cases increased again two months ago, the Israeli government decided to reintroduce this system.
With the new regulation coming into effect at the end of July, the card will only allow citizens over 12 years old who have been vaccinated, recently recovered or have a periodic negative certificate to attend large events, large gatherings. . It also applies to cultural events, sports, restaurants, conferences and even places of worship.
China since 2020 has issued a QR code system, which categorizes individuals by color. Blue allows the individual to move freely, while yellow means staying at home for 7 days before officially changing color. These colors are specified based on user-supplied data blocks.
Many public places in China require people to present a valid QR code to gain access. By March 2021, China will issue an electronic medical certificate – a “vaccine pass” that shows an individual’s vaccination status and valid test results.
Since April, the White House has rejected the issuance of federal Covid certification, saying that people’s freedom and privacy should be protected. However, there are 7 states that have developed their own electronic vaccine applications, with California and New York being the two places to apply “vaccine green cards”.
California has made it mandatory for all employees and health care workers to have a vaccine certificate, or be tested on a weekly basis. New York City also adopted a similar rule in mid-September.
